FILTERS
Filters
The environment from which compressors breathe is very variable, containing suspended particles that contaminate the compressed fluid. An in-line filter is an equipment used for the treatment of the compressed fluid.
Usually, the way to estimate the quality level of the fluid is by following the parameters of the ISO 8573-1 Standard, which regulates the maximum level of contaminants in the compressed fluid: moisture, particles and residual oil.
Pre-Filters
Their main task is to remove coarse particles that could be sucked in by the compressor. They are, in themselves, the protective filters of the downstream filter network. These filters can remove small amounts of water and oil and solid particles at the same time (coalescing capacity).
Intermediate Filters
They are installed downstream of the pre-filters, and their mission is to protect the various accessories and equipment installed in the air network. Their characteristics are determined according to the air quality required.
Particulate filter
Filtration up to 0.1 microns and 0.1 mg/m3 of oil or water. At the outlet of adsorption dryers, these filters are usually placed at 1 micron.
Activated carbon filter or desoleator filters.
Their function is to remove oil vapours and odours, leaving a very small residual, approximately 0.003 mg/m3.
Post-Filters
They are installed to protect the system before its final use. Their filtering capacity is greater than 0.1 microns and 0.1 mg/m3 of oil.
